Announcing the first annual Disability Studies Forum to be held at the University of Utah on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Featuring Rosemarie Garland-Thomson, Ph.D., professor of Women's Studies at Emory University as a visiting scholar. Dr. Garland-Thomson will facilitate a seminar on integrating disability studies into teaching and scholarship across disciplines. A poster session will be part of the event followed by an evening public lecture titled: "How we look: New and old ways of seeing disability."

A new interdisciplinary course in Disability Studies is being offered starting Fall Semester, 2007. It will be open to students from disciplines throughout the University and will serve as the core course in a proposed graduate certificate in Disability Studies. The course will be cross-listed in the Colleges of Health (OC TH 6350) and Social and Behavioral Science (PADMN 6350).
Students can earn a 15 hour graduate certificate which consists of a 3-hour Core Course, 5-9 hours of coursework, a 2-6 hour Capstone Project, and a 1-hour Disability Studies Forum.
